PERT Chart

I went a different design direction for the PERT chart because I wasn't satisfied with how my timeline turned out. I think I'm going to base my future designs for this research project on what I've done with the PERT chart. I'd like to remake my timeline to match this aesthetic, as far as color and form goes.

Project Timeline

Ok, I realize this timeline design might seem a little random, considering my research project is based on food labels. I wanted this timeline to suggest the idea of "nature" because the main diets I am trying to aid are often considered more natural than the typical diet. I also wanted to suggest ideas of freshness and maybe even health? Maybe that's a stretch- but that was my thinking, nonetheless.

REVISED problem and purpose statement

  1. Problem Statement: Food items at Safeway in San Francisco are not consistently labeled as "vegetarian" or "vegan" friendly.
  2. Purpose Statement: The purpose of this study was to provide universal food labels for every company to utilize, allowing customers to identify foods that are suitable for their diet.

3 Initial Problem and Purpose Statements

1. Problem Statement: Students at San Francisco State find difficulty in correctly identifying the proper recycling bins for certain products.

Purpose Statement: The purpose of this study was to construct a fast and simple way for students to place recyclable items in the proper bins.

2. Problem Statement: San Francisco pet owners do not consistently clean up after their pet has defecated during walks or in public parks.

Purpose Statement: The purpose of this study was to identify why pet owners weren’t cleaning up after their pets and to develop methods to educate them of the importance of doing so.

3. Problem Statement: Food items in San Francisco grocery stores are not consistently labeled as “vegetarian” or “vegan” friendly.

Purpose Statement: The purpose of this study was to provide universal food labels for every company to utilize, allowing customers to identify foods that are suitable for their diet.

About Me

Hello hello,

My name is Ariana Doyle and I am design student, with a focus on visual communications, at San Francisco State University. I am inspired by natural things, bright colors, bold lines, and simple design. I'm also extremely interested in animation and motion graphics and hope to gather experience in those fields too someday!

I have been greatly influenced, primarily, by my mother who is a graphic designer and artist. Growing up I would watch her paint and draw constantly, which really inspired me to pursue a career in a creativity driven field. I have high hopes for the future and a lot of plans. Part of my plan includes graduate school, but probably not for another two years at least. My dream job would be working for Pixar or another highly creative company that involves story telling and character development. I wouldn't mind working as a graphic designer, but I don't think I would be happy with a standard corporate job- creating things primarily for other people, such as advertising, etc. I also really love to travel and hope to see more places I've never been to in the future!
